Safety and Periodic Maintenance of Gas Suppression Systems

Gas fire suppression systems are classified as pressure vessels and must undergo regular inspections in accordance with relevant regulations:

• Hydrostatic pressure tests are required every 10 years
• Expired pressure vessels must be tested and refilled
• Systems must be refilled after any fire discharge event
• Cylinders older than 5 years from manufacturing date must undergo pressure testing

Technical Inspection and Safety Procedures

During refilling and maintenance operations, detailed safety checks are performed:

• Valve seals (gaskets) are inspected and replaced if necessary
• “Burst disc” components are checked and replaced when required
• Solenoid valves are tested with 24V DC activation
• In detonator-based systems, current values are measured using a multimeter
• Detonators are replaced annually in applicable systems

Cylinders are pressurized with nitrogen gas and tested for leaks. All connection points are checked using sensitive leak detection methods. The system is monitored for at least 48 hours to ensure there is no pressure loss before final approval.
